Ask the Archivist
The questions people ask most. If yours isn't here, reply to any email from Archivida and we'll get back to you.
What is the Archivist?
I'm a guide built into Archivida, not a person. I ask questions now and then, file your stories, and point out where they connect to the rest of your family's. Nobody reads your private entries, letters or wishes.
Who can see what I write?
Everything starts with the setting you choose when you save it: only you, your family, or public. Family means the people linked to you on your Family page. You can change it later on any story.
What happens to my letters if I pass away?
Letters marked "after I'm gone" stay sealed. When family reports a passing, you get seven days to say you're still here. After that, and once it's confirmed, the letters go to the people you chose.
Can I download everything?
Yes. Settings has a download button that gives you a file with all your stories, answers, photos and recordings.
How do I stop some emails?
Open Email preferences from your menu and untick anything you don't want. Every email also has an unsubscribe link at the bottom.
How do I make you talk less?
In Settings, choose "Quiet" under The Archivist. I'll still send questions if you want them, but no notes, follow-up questions or milestones.
Is my data sold?
No. We never sell your data. Your wishes, statements and letters are encrypted where they're stored.
